I’ve been a fan of virtual reality for a long time, growing up with cyberpunk authors like William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Richard K. Morgan, Neal Asher, and Bruce Sterling, suggesting a future of virtual environments and virtual combat.
Once 6DOF roomscale standalone VR became available, I saw it as a signal to combine the skillsets I had gathered while working in professional and independent filmmaking and performance to start down the road of VR game development.
I believe firmly that the future of entertainment involves greater interactivity with our narrative content.
As I enter my second year working with Unity, I’ve learned a lot about VR game design, animation, interactables and ragdolls while examining classic video games of the past, all in the service of ‘making movies we can play’.
